I got an email update about Moose today. I had sent Alan an email a few days ago asking how his anxiety level is and if he had met any people. The dogs that I met that he was referring to were AWESOME. Super friendly and outgoing. They were not that way at all when they arrived.

Alan also posted some photos of Moose this week. The red colored dog in the photos is Rock, who is apparently one of Moo's best buds. His other best friend is Tessie, the big dog in the bottom photo. I should mention, it's super cool to see Moose around a horse. He and farm animals were never exactly friends. He always was way overexcited and super loud about it.

Here is the email:

Hi Caelynn,

Glad you got a chance to see your Moose's photos. He's been outside (on long line) with the normal bunch of guys that are allowed loose when some visitors came. Although he didn't wander over to try and meet them, he was non-reactive, Which was nice to see.
What you have to understand is, it's not about meeting a whole bunch of people, it's about letting go of their fears through play and happiness and feeling secure.
You met a bunch of guys when you were here, they all come here for Moose type issues. Once they're happy, then they meet people and are still happy.

have a great week.

As of Friday, March 15th, Moose will have spent a month at the Sanctuary. I miss him more than I can even express... I cried when I got the update.

Hi Caelynn,

Moose has become comfortable, affectionate and very playful with me. Which is what I needed before I can start to help him get over his fears.

He's met a bunch of dogs so far and is doing great. His best friend so far is Tessie, a husky/shepherd something mix, they pretty much hang out together.

Thank you so much for the new donations.

Have a great week and email me as often as you like for updates.

So today I drove up to the sanctuary to drop Moose off. We played in the yard
for a while in the morning before the trip.

They had about three feet of snow at the sanctuary. Hunter ran off after a
turkey... You should have seen me running in snow deeper than my knees!
He will be there for at least a month, but it could be much, much longer. There
is really no way of him knowing until after Moose trusts him. He said to email
him for updates and photos.

The last picture is Hunter as we were pulling out. He wasn't thrilled to be
leaving his buddy or all the fun snow.

Here is an update I wrote the day I dropped Moose at the Sanctuary. I shared it with some people, but had not yet gotten around to posting it here!
We played for a bit at the sanctuary, the Alan brought Moose in the house. He
came back out to talk to me after. I gave him a Jolly Ball for Moose, because
they are his favorite toys. I also gave him a donation of $730 and some medical
supplies.

I cried the entire hour to my cousins house. I know this was a good decision,
and is totally worth it, but it sucks!

To date, with all of your help, we have donated medical supplies (bandages and gauze), food, toys, and $1150 to Spirit Animal Sanctuary. This is absolutely amazing. The support of family, friends, and fellow animal lovers has been absolutely amazing. I could never say enough to express my gratitude for your help, so please just know that you have helping so many wonderful animals.

We haven't gotten an update on Moose yet, although as he takes quite some time to fully adjust to new people and places, I am not surprised. In the mean time, I am sure that he is enjoying all of the snow and his new doggy friends.

This year, we learned that he LOVES the snow. How does this get him ready for the trip? Well, they have a LOT of snow at the sanctuary! It is about 6 hours north of us, way upstate in New York. They always get more snow than us. Seeing how much fun Moose had in our 6 inches let me know that he will really enjoy himself up there!

I also stopped at Petco and bought him a brand new Jolly Ball to bring with him to the Sanctuary. It is his absolute favorite toy, and something that he and the other dogs can play with out in the awesome snow!
Moose is leaving for Spirit Animal Sanctuary on Friday. Thanks to the donations of 25 people, we have raised about $560! This is 14% of our goal. All donations made up until Friday will be donated on Friday. Of course, we will continue to accept donations for the next several months.

To get Moose ready for his trip, Mother Nature granted us with a good amount of snow for outdoor play! Since Moose is only two, he hasn't really had a good snow to play in! We only had one decent snowstorm during his first winter, and he was afraid of the snow!

As you can see, Moose always has a Jolly Ball while playing outside! He hasn't had a chance to play with the new one yet!

We have made it to 8% of our goal!

We are up to $335 in funds raised. Moose is leaving in just   2 short weeks! We would like to make the largest donation possible when dropping Moose at the Sanctuary.

We have received MANY generous donations from friends and family, and are so grateful for your help and support of this wonderful program.

If you are unable to make a large donation, we would still appreciate a small one! EVERY donation counts, and EVERY donation helps. $5 is less than it costs for a meal at McDonalds. Would you be willing to go without that one Big Mac to help feed homeless animals?

Would you prefer to write a check? Please make all checks payable to Spirit Animal Sanctuary. Email [email protected] to find out how to get that check to us! We can pick it up from you, or give you a mailing address to send it to. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

On February 7th, 2013 we will be having a fundraising event at the Milltown, NJ Applebee's. 10% of all purchases, excluding alcohol, will be donated to Spirit Animal Sanctuary in Moose's name.

Of course, 10% isn't a very large amount, $1 - $1.50 of each person's purchase, but EVERY donation counts!! If you can't attend the event, would rather make a 100% donation, or will be attending but want to donate as well, there are several ways you can do that!
